IMPROVE YOUR SKATE STRIDE BY CONCENTRATING ON HOW YOU SKATE!!

Does your skate stride need improvement?  Do you have trouble accelerating when you skate?  Would you like to develop a strong solid stride to catch your opponent?

To improve your skate stride you need to slow down and concentrate on your stride.  This will help improve your muscle memory and provide a powerful elongate skate stride.  Start with a well balanced stance.  Position each skate shoulder length apart.  The skate of the back leg turned slightly outward for a lateral thrust.  Bend knees this helps to develop power to finish your skate stride.  Now push off with back skate, fully extend the leg at the hip, knee and ankle.  WIthout gliding, lift skate slightly off ice for initial strides.  These strides are short and quick for acceleration purposes.

Once momentum is gained, take full elongated skate strides, pushing side to side.  Your drive or back sate should always be close to the ice.  While passing under your body's center of gravity.  Remember to keep your feet and legs moving especially in a turn.  Pump your arms.  All of these motions help to build momentum and accelerate your speed and improve your skate stride.

With practice and conditioning you will improve your skate stride in order to skate pass your opponent and beat them to the hockey net in order to score.
