What would you need to take a bunch of college hockey students and make them believe they could win an Olympic Gold medal?  A hard nosed coach and a strong work ethic combined with a dream

Coach Herb Brooks of the 1980 USA Olympic Hockey team had just that vision. He had a work ethic that made him a strong leader.  Watching videos, reviewing stats of college hockey players Herb Brooks did not necessarily want the top scorers, the MVPs, the superstars he was looking for heart and dedication from the hockey player to win no matter the circumstance...team players was what he wanted.

Coach Herb Brooks of the 1980 USA Olympic hockey team was all about "the team".  He pushed, prodded his 1980 USA Olympic hockey team to believe in insurmountable goals could be achieved.

A scene of the movie "Miracle On Ice" about the 1980 USA Olympic hockey team, Herb Brooks asks his players what team they played for.  Each player stated the college team they were playing for.  Then Brooks blew the whistle and started the skating drills.  On and on they skated, players dripping in sweat were asked time and time again what team they played for and each time the answer was not what coach Herb Brooks was looking for.  Mentally, physically exhaustated some players collapsed, some threw up until a player answered "1980 USA Olympic hockey team" and that was the precise answer the late Herb Brooks wanted.

The hockey world knows the 1980 USA Olympic hockey team went on to win the Gold medal in Lake Placid.  Achieving what has thought impossible, beating the unstoppable Soviet Union Red Machine team making us all believe in miracles.
